Competition 2024​

 

ELIGIBILTY:

Instrumentalists or Vocalists ages 15-22 residing or attending school in Monroe County, New York 

    •    Junior Division – Age 15-18 (under age 19 on competition date)

    •    Senior Division – Age 19-22 (under age 23 on competition date)

WINNERS: 

(one in each division) will receive $200 and will perform with Cordancia in May 2025.

 

2024 COMPETITION REPERTOIRE THEME:

Junior Division – Composers from South America*
Senior Division – Composers from Brazil
   *Restriction for Junior Division: Astor Piazzolla - Four Seasons of Buenos Aires will not be accepted as it was recently performed

 

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS:

16 minutes maximum - at least one complete movement. If more than one movement, the total must fit within the time limit. Music must be for chamber orchestra or smaller – no larger than an orchestra of strings, double winds, keyboard, harp and percussion. The piece can use smaller instrumentation, for example a string orchestra. Repertoire will be reviewed for instrumentation and availability.  

 

COMPETITION:  

December 3, 2024 starting at 5 pm at the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word.  Live in person auditions. Competitors will be notified of their specific time. Only the competitor and accompanist will be permitted to attend the competition performance.  

 

PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT: 

Required for competition (except for piano soloists), competitors must provide their own.
