Born in Whitefish, Montana, Lia began Suzuki violin lessons at age six and later joined the Great Falls Symphony and Youth Orchestra under director Gordon Johnson. At fifteen, Lia made their solo debut with the Great Falls Symphony performing Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins, and has since appeared as a soloist with both the Great Falls and Billings Symphonies.

A graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, Lia earned a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and two Master of Music degrees in Performance and Literature and Music Education from the Eastman School of Music. Equally devoted to violin and viola, they perform in classical ensembles as well as folk and fiddle groups, and remain passionate about sharing music in both traditional and unexpected settings.

Lia currently resides in Rochester, NY, where they enjoy going on fun adventures with their three children. They have been a member of Cordancia since 2015. You can also find them performing in the violin section of the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes.
