Carl Galland

Dr. Carl Galland has distinguished himself as an international and national clarinetist making his international solo debut in Kadriorg Palace of Tallin, Estonia collaborating with the St. Petersburg String Quartet (2017) and his New York debut in Weill Hall of Carnegie Hall (2018). He additionally has collaborated as a soloist with the Sewanee Chamber Orchestra and has placed and been a finalist in several music competitions. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and receiving a BM before receiving Doctoral and Master’s degrees in Clarinet Performance at the Eastman School of Music. His principal clarinet teachers include Jon Manasse, Kenneth Grant, Nathan Williams, and Richard MacDowell. 

Dr. Galland has performed in international summer music festivals such as Marrowstone Music Festival, Madeleine Island Chamber Festival, Alion Baltic Music Festival, and Sewanee Music Festival, and he is an active pedagogue having presented and performed at the International Clarinet Association Conference and South Central College Music Society Conference. He also has subbed regularly with the Orchestra of the Southern Fingers Lakes, having played the entire 2023-24 season with the orchestra this past year.  Dr. Galland teaches clarinetists of all ranges and abilities from 4th grade students to college and even adult students at The Hochstein School in Rochester, NY.
