Matt Osika

Matt Osika is a highly accomplished trumpet player and musician based in the Rochester, NY area. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Applied Music/Music Education (2008) and a Master's degree in Music Education (2010) from the Eastman School of Music, where he attended as a recipient of the prestigious Lois S. Rogers scholarship. During his time at Eastman, he performed alongside the Canadian Brass, served as tour manager for the Eastman Wind Ensemble, and worked as Assistant Conductor of the Eastman Wind Orchestra. His trumpet instructors included James Thompson and Douglas Prosser, and his conducting instructors were Mark Davis Scatterday and Brad Lubman.

 

Currently, Matt teaches instrumental music in the Webster Central School District (Webster, NY) and is actively involved with the Hochstein School, serving as Assistant Director of the Hochstein Philharmonia Orchestra since 2012. As a performer, he regularly plays as principal trumpet of the Penfield Symphony and Cordancia Chamber Orchestras in addition to the Plymouth Brass Quintet. He is also an experience conductor, having led the Cordancia Chamber Orchestra, Center Stage Pops, Ad Hoc Chamber Ensemble, the ECMS Music Educators’ Wind Ensemble, and various NYSSMA-affiliated honor groups throughout New York State. Matt lives in Fairport, NY with his wife, Kayla and his children, Harper and Jeremy.
